FREE Opioid Overdose Prevention Workshop Thursday, August 28
The community is invited to a free What Do You Know About Opioids workshop provided by the Eau Claire City-County Health Department and the Eau Claire Health Alliance.
Date: Thursday, August 28
Time: 5:30-7:00pm
Place: L.E. Phillips Memorial Library – Riverview Room (400 Eau Claire St., Eau Claire)
At the workshop, you’ll learn about opioids, local data, how to respond to an opioid overdose, how to safely store opioid medication, information on fentanyl and fentanyl test strips, and how to use Narcan (naloxone), a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose.
In honor of International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD), purple flags and buttons will also be available. IOAD is observed each August to remember the loved ones we’ve lost to overdose and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind. The day seeks to create a better understanding of overdose, reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths, and reduce the harms associated with drug use.
Narcan nasal spray, fentanyl test strips, medication storage options, and other resources will be available for free.
